The Algarve is the southernmost region of Portugal and it‘s one of Europe’s favourite holiday destinations, well known for its glorious year round sunshine and excellent sandy beaches.

Lagos is steeped in history and it was a favoured residence of Henry the Navigator, who used Lagos as a base for the African trade. Europe’s first slave market was built here in 1441 in the arches of the Customs House, which still stands in the Praça da Republica near the waterfront.

On the waterfront and to the rear of the town are the remains of Lagos’s once impregnable fortifications.

“Marina de Lagos” opened in 1994 offers the experienced and not so plenty of options from deep sea fishing to a relaxed day at sea, with its numerous restaurants and nightlife it’s the ideal place to spend an evening.

Lagos boasts some of the best beaches on the Algarve

The stunning surrounding rock formations may be crossed to reach the “Estudantes” and “Pinhão” Beaches, small shelf’s of sand lying between colourful cliffs reaching down into the calm, transparent waters.

Sheltered between cliffs, the sands of” Dona Ana Beach” and their calm and clear waters are one of the highest profile landmarks on the Algarve.

”Meia Praia” on eastern side and “Porto Do Mos” on the western side of Lagos are two of the finest beaches on the Algarve, sandy beaches that stretch for miles. Take the time you will not be disappointed!

Vilabranca Lagos is the ideal base to explore the beautiful scenery of the Algarve its excellent climate and location is ideal for a sailing, walking, cycling or walking holiday.
